Three victims and over 600 injured as a result of the new earthquake in Turkey

Three people have lost their lives after the 6.4 magnitude earthquake that hit southern Turkey on Monday.

More than 680 people have been injured in Turkey and Syria as a result of the February 20 earthquake.

The depth of this earthquake was only two kilometers, according to the European Seismological Center.

This earthquake comes two weeks after two earthquakes above 7 on the Richter scale that have left over 44,000 people dead in Turkey and Syria.

The dead from Monday's earthquake were found in the cities of Antakya, Defne and Samandagi, Turkish Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu said, urging people not to stay in potentially dangerous buildings.

Soylo said that 213 people were injured in Turkey.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said 470 people visited hospitals after the quake, which was also reported to have been felt in Egypt and Lebanon.

The Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, said a few days ago that the work for the construction of nearly 200,000 homes in the 11 provinces affected by the earthquake in Turkey will start next month./REL
