The Ukrainian city finds alternative sources of energy

As Russian missiles continue to pound Ukraine's infrastructure and power grid, Ukrainian scientists in the city of Sumy hope to begin mass production of solar energy technology. As the correspondent of the Voice of America, Olena Adamenko, announces, the objective is to preserve the country's energy supply through solar energy.

Since the start of Russia's attack, scientists from the Ukrainian city of Sumy have been working to develop alternative energy sources – a necessity since Russia's war in Ukraine has destroyed significant parts of the country's energy infrastructure.

Vetë banor në këtë qytet, ai përfiton energji dhe e ndan edhe me të tjerët, falë paneleve diellore të instaluara në çati.

“U telefonojmë garazheve që merren me makinat e shkatërruara në Kiev, në Kharkiv, dhe u kërkojmë të na shesin bateritë e ringarkueshme që janë ende funksionale. Shpresojmë që në vazhdim t’u ofrojmë energji në mënyrë krejt të pavarur 3-4 shtëpive çdo ditë, për gati 10 dhjetë orë”, thotë zoti Drozdenko.

Ai është zëvendës drejtor i departamentit të shkencave kompjuterike në Universitetin Shtetëror në Sumy dhe thotë se ekipi i tij në universitet shpiku panele diellore të lëvizshme.

Çdo njësi e lëvizshme me panele diellore kushton më pak se 4 mijë dollarë. Ato po prodhohen në masë në disa pjesë të Ukrainës, përfshirë në rajonet Vinnytsia dhe Volyn.

“Mund t’i ofrojmë energji çdo pike kontrolli, spitali fushor apo postkomande në një zonë ku nuk ka elektricitet. Një person mundet ta bëjë gati paisjen për 5-7 minuta”, thotë zoti Drozdenko.

Paisja përbëhet nga gjashtë panele diellore, si dhe bateri të thjeshta makinash të vendosura në qendër të saj.

Paisjet jo vetëm që mbledhin energji dhe e depozitojnë atë, por edhe e konvertojnë në një burim të përdorshëm energjie.

"The third element is a device that makes it possible for the batteries to work properly and that enables us to connect with other sources of energy, such as generators ," says Mr. Drozdenko.

He says residents in the city of Sumy are installing solar panels.

“I've seen some people install solar panels on their houses, on their roofs, in their gardens, and find ways to connect them to batteries. So, it is a step towards being completely autonomous" , says Mr. Drozdenko.

Engineers in the city of Sumy are also working to improve the solar panels themselves, using new materials that could lower the cost and make them more environmentally friendly./ VOA
