Plans to train Ukrainian teams in how to use advanced German tanks are on track, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said after visiting a military training center in northwestern Germany.

"The intention is that the Leopard 2 and Marders tanks will be sent to Ukraine at the end of March and that the military training will be carried out by then," Pistorius said on Monday.

During his visit, Pistorius saw military commanders testing Marder and Leopard 2 equipment.

Pistorius was accompanied on this visit by a senior official of the Christian Democratic party as well as by Ukrainian Vladimir Klitschko, former world boxing champion, whose brother is currently the mayor of Kyiv.
