Storm in Milan/ 1 victim and 2 injured by bad weather

Milan was hit by a storm and heavy rain this Sunday.

A 63-year-old woman from San Vittore Olona lost her life after a large tree fell during the wave of bad weather that hit the Alto Milanese area this afternoon.

The fallen tree hit two other people, a 68-year-old woman and a 70-year-old man, who were rushed to hospital. According to what has been ascertained so far, the three were returning from a walk along the Alzaia del Naviglio when the tree, possibly as a result of the storm, fell and hit them.

The firefighters and the Carabinieri of the Legnano company are intervening at the scene. Two ambulances and two medical vehicles were sent and the rescue helicopter was also launched from Como.

Meanwhile, due to the wave of bad weather, firefighters have so far carried out around fifty interventions. These interventions are mainly for trees that pose a risk, flooded cellars and taverns, and advertising boards that have been knocked down by strong winds. /CNA
