Situation with Venezuela/ President Trump calls emergency meeting in the Oval

US President Donald Trump has called an emergency meeting in the Oval Office at the White House.

As reported by American media, Trump will hold a meeting this Monday evening regarding further steps on Venezuela, at a time when the administration intensifies its pressure campaign on the South American country.  

The meeting is reportedly expected to be attended by key members of Trump's Cabinet and national security team, including Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Dan Caine and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, as well as White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles and Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller.

The meeting is expected to take place at 5 pm local Washington time.

This meeting for expanded discussions comes as the United States has increased pressure on Venezuela with attacks on drug ships and a buildup of military assets in the Caribbean.

The US military has massed hundreds of warships and about 15,000 troops in that region, as part of what the Pentagon has called "Operation Southern Spear . "/CNA
