Antiques dealer and his wife found dead in Florence

A businessman, art lover and social activist, Franco Giorgi, 74 years old, retired, was found dead yesterday in his home in Via Orsini, in Gavinana, along with his wife Gianna Di Nardo, 68 years old, a retired public employee, who was also found dead. Neighbors remember a long-married couple with a son, Tommaso, now an adult, 35 years old, who lived in the Campo di Marte area.

According to reports, the alarm was raised by the couple's son, who called for help at around 2:30 p.m. The couple's bodies were found in the home, located in a multi-story building from the early 1900s, where other families also live. Forensic scientists are also at the scene and are examining traces of blood in the home. The Carabinieri have already started contacting family members and acquaintances, as well as neighbors, to gather evidence and testimony to reconstruct the incident.

If the attackers were outside, someone might have noticed suspicious movement. If it was a marital dispute that escalated into a stabbing, neighbors including those in adjacent buildings, not just the doorbells at number 99, might have heard the screams, and the street is quite busy.

Franco Giorgi is a well-known antique dealer who held national positions in the trade. His gallery is located in Via dei Serragli, in the historic Oltrarno district, between the Santo Spirito and San Frediano neighborhoods. Currently, the prosecutor's office and the carabinieri are investigating the residence in Via Orsini and their last contact. Their son, who does not live with them, has already had initial interviews with the carabinieri: one of the objectives is to reconstruct the period from when he or other relatives saw or spoke with the couple while they were still alive./ CNA, translated by Sky Tg 24
