US says it has hit Iranian radars

The US said it had struck Iranian military bases over the weekend, while Tehran said it had responded by targeting a US base, marking the third known escalation in a week around the Strait of Hormuz.

US Central Command (Centcom) said it launched "self-defensive strikes" in response to "aggressive Iranian actions", which it said included the downing of a US drone over international waters.

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it had targeted an air base used by US forces for an attack in southern Iran.

Meanwhile, Kuwait said its air defense system had confronted "hostile" missiles and drones - with the foreign ministry later condemning the "heinous and repeated Iranian attacks".

Trump urged his critics to “sit down and relax” in a post on Truth Social early Monday, saying “everything will work out in the end.” He said Iran “really wants to make a deal and it will be a good deal for the United States.”

The attacks mark the latest exchange between the two sides after negotiations for a deal to end their months-long war failed to progress over the weekend, with US media reporting that Trump had demanded changes to its terms.

The changes relate to the Strait of Hormuz shipping channel and the removal of highly enriched uranium, the BBC's US news partner CBS News reported. The White House did not respond to a request for comment.

On Monday, Iran's foreign ministry spokesman said the US is "constantly changing its views and presenting new or contradictory demands," which he said would naturally "prolong the negotiations."
