Iran's president calls for change in country's government, denies plan

Iranian President Masoud Pezheskian called for a fundamental change in the country's governance, while his office denied rumors that he planned to resign.

Pezheskian said that Iran's leadership should not come exclusively from a limited group of officials, according to the Fars news agency, while emphasizing that all social groups, economic actors and scientists, as well as the general public, should participate in decision-making processes.

The Iranian leader argued that the greater the public's participation in decision-making and problem-solving processes, the greater the chances of successfully overcoming challenges. 

Meanwhile, Masoud Pezheskian's office denied rumors that the president had submitted his resignation to Iran's Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, stressing that Pezheskian will not stop serving the Iranian people./CNA
