Drejtori i Përgjithshëm i OBSH-së, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, zbarkoi në provincën Ituri të Republikës Demokratike të Kongos, shteti i goditur nga një shpërthim i rëndë i një lloji të rrallë të virusit Ebola.

Vizita vjen ndërsa virusi po përhapet më shpejt sesa mund të përballojë reagimi, pavarësisht institucioneve shëndetësore më të organizuara dhe ndihmës së re që po vjen.

Drejtori i përgjithshëm i Organizatës Botërore të Shëndetësisë pritet të vizitojë një qendër trajtimi dhe të takohet me autoritetet lokale, punonjësit e shëndetësisë dhe familjet e prekura në Bunia, kryeqytetin e provincës.

Ndërsa të dhënat e fundit nxjerrin në pah numrin në rritje të viktimave, ka pasur të paktën 1,077 raste të dyshuara, përfshirë 246 vdekje, sipas Qendrave Afrikane për Kontrollin dhe Parandalimin e Sëmundjeve. Ministria e Shëndetësisë e Ugandës konfirmoi raste të reja gjatë fundjavës./CNA
