Suspicions of Ebola in Brazil/ A patient arriving from Congo is isolated

A patient has been placed in isolation at the Institute of Infectious Diseases in São Paulo, Brazil, on suspicion of Ebola.

The São Paulo Health Secretariat reported that a man presented with fever, one of the symptoms compatible with the disease, and met the clinical and epidemiological criteria to be investigated as a suspected case.

The citizen from the Democratic Republic of Congo had a fever after recently visiting the country, where this epidemic has also broken out.

At the moment, there is no laboratory confirmation that it is Ebola, so authorities insist that the case is under investigation and that measures have been taken as a precaution.

Brazilian authorities have stressed that these measures are part of the usual protocols for a suspected case of a high-impact infectious disease. /CNA
