Aragchi: Talks with the US continue, no concrete result yet

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi told state media that talks and exchanges of messages with the United States were continuing. He warned that no conclusions should be drawn until the discussions produce clear and concrete results.

"We should not pay attention to speculation and we cannot judge the talks until we have a clear result ," Araghchi said.

Earlier, the speaker of parliament and Iranian chief negotiator, Bayer Ghalibaf, said in a video message that Tehran will not accept any agreement unless it is sure that the rights of the Iranian people will be guaranteed.

Tensions in the Middle East have escalated since the United States and Israel launched strikes against Iran in February. Tehran responded with attacks on Israel and US allies in the Persian Gulf, while also closing the Strait of Hormuz.

A ceasefire brokered by Pakistan came into effect on April 8, but subsequent talks in Islamabad failed to produce a lasting agreement.

Since then, the two sides have continued to exchange proposals and counter-proposals in an effort to resume direct talks and end the conflict. /CNA
