The US limits exports of equipment that China can use for armaments

The United States announced new export restrictions aimed at curbing China's ability to produce advanced semiconductors used in weapons systems and artificial intelligence, as competition between the world's two largest economies continues to intensify.

"The United States has taken important steps to protect our technology so that it is not used by adversaries in ways that could threaten our national security," said White House National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan.

He added that Washington will continue to cooperate with its allies and partners to "proactively and strongly support the leading role of the United States in the field of technology on a global scale."

The latest measure restricts exports to 140 companies, including Chinese semiconductor companies Piotech and SiCarrier Technology.

The restrictions also affect the company "Naura Technology Group", which produces equipment for semiconductors, according to data from the Department of Commerce.

"We are in constant communication with our allies and partners and at the same time we are reevaluating and updating our controls ," said ZV/Secretary of Commerce for Industry and Security, Alan Estevez.

The latest measure also includes controls on 24 types of chip manufacturing equipment and three other types of semiconductor development or manufacturing equipment./ VOA
