Attack in Zubin Potok/ Another suspect is arrested

The Kosovo Police announced that they have arrested another person who is suspected of being connected to the attack on the Ibër-Lepenci water channel in Zubin Potok on November 26.

The suspect, identified by the initials JV, was arrested in the evening hours of December 1, "under the suspicion that he may have had an important role within the group responsible for the case of the terrorist attack on critical infrastructure", the announcement said. .

The judicial authorities have ordered the suspect to be detained for 48 hours.

Police said that during the search of the suspect's house, weapons were also seized, including military equipment, including four hand grenades, a hunting rifle, 500 pieces of ammunition of various calibers, various magazines, radios, binoculars, a camouflage camera, uniforms military and various documents.

"The security situation in the north of the country is currently considered calm, but as we have continuously made known, it is a fragile situation, accompanied by cases of various criminal natures, such as the last case of a criminal terrorist attack against infrastructure critical in the water channel, and for this the additional measures of the KP continue", it was said in the announcement of the Kosovo Police.

Previously, the authorities had announced the arrest of eight suspects in connection with the attack in the village of Varrangë in Zubin Potok.

Kosovo authorities have described the attack on critical infrastructure as terrorist and have blamed Serbia. Belgrade, meanwhile, has denied that it was involved in this attack and has said that it is conducting its own investigations into this case.

The attack took place in the village of Varragë in the municipality of Zubin Potok - a municipality with a Serbian majority in the north of the country.

The Kosovo Police said that the attack was carried out with explosives weighing up to 20 kilograms.

The Ibër-Lepenc Canal supplies water from Lake Ujman to the entire north of Kosovo, the regions of Mitrovica, Pristina and its surroundings, as well as the Kosovo Energy Corporation for cooling its thermal power plants.

The attack in Zubin Potok has been strongly condemned by the international factor.

Also, before the attack in Zubin Potok, there were two incidents with explosive devices in the north, one near the municipality of Zveçan and an attack with hand grenades on the police station in this municipality./REL
