Russia drone strikes overnight in Ukraine/ At least 12 casualties reported

Emergency services reported that at least 12 people were killed and dozens more injured across Ukraine in Russian drone and missile attacks overnight.

Three children were killed in Zhytomyr, west of Kiev, and a man in his 70s was killed in the southern city of Mykolaiv, the state emergency service said.

This comes a day after Kiev suffered one of the heaviest attacks since the start of the Russian occupation, with Russian airstrikes killing at least 13 people.

Russia's Defense Ministry said its air defense units shot down or intercepted 95 Ukrainian drones over a number of Russian regions, including Moscow, over a four-hour period on Saturday evening. There were no reports of casualties.

The attacks occurred as Russia and Ukraine take part in a prisoner exchange agreed upon after talks between the two sides in Turkey.

On Friday, Ukraine and Russia each handed over 390 soldiers and civilians in the largest prisoner exchange since Russia launched its full-scale offensive in February 2022./ CNA
