Gas prices rise in Europe and the UK after attacks on Qatar and Iran

Natural gas prices have risen sharply in Europe and the United Kingdom following attacks on energy infrastructure in Qatar and Iran.

The attacks hit Qatar's main gas complex, Ras Laffan, and the huge South Pars gas field in Iran, which is jointly managed by both countries.

As a result, European markets saw gas prices rise by around 25–35%, while energy supplies in the United Kingdom also faced high pressure.

Market experts warn that this could affect energy bills for consumers over the coming weeks.

US President Donald Trump has warned Iran against further attacks on Qatar and stressed that the US has no knowledge of the Israeli attack on South Pars.

Meanwhile, tensions in the Middle East have raised concerns about disruptions to global gas supplies./ CNA
