Cocaine seized in Piraeus

91 kilograms of cocaine have been seized by the Greek authorities on a ship carrying a container of bananas from Ecuador, Greek media reports .

Greek authorities have seized the narcotic substance in the port of Piraeus, and it was divided into 80 plastic packages.

The total value calculated for the quantity of drugs amounts to 4 million euros.

The operation was carried out on November 14, but was not made public by the Greek authorities as another quantity was suspected in the port of Thessaloniki. However, the checks carried out from November 19 to 22 did not identify another load of cocaine.

A preliminary investigation is being carried out by the Central Port Authority of Piraeus, while a sample of the narcotic substance has been seized by the State General Chemistry team for examination./ CNA
