Floods in Germany/ 5 victims are reported

Bad weather in Germany has caused flooding in several cities. There were major floods in Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg.

The German Weather Service (DWD) has lifted all severe weather warnings. The water level has partially receded and the work to clean up the disaster caused by the floods is continuing. The situation is still tense.

On Tuesday, 5 victims from the floods were confirmed.

Several districts and cities such as Regensburg and Passau have declared a state of emergency and dams burst in some places.

Some communities have been evacuated.

Emergency services evacuated around 30 houses along a Danube road in Regensburg yesterday evening because the ground was becoming increasingly slippery due to high groundwater levels.
