For citizens of most countries of the world, planning a last-minute vacation in Europe is not a possible scenario, reports SchengenNews.

The application process for a single Schengen visa should start several weeks before a planned trip to one of the Schengen countries, which period depends on the nearest available visa appointment places at the embassy or visa center representing the same Member State as the applicant's place of birth.

According to Besart Bajrami, founder of SchengenNews, sometimes even scheduling a meeting can take months.

"In third countries with a high volume of Schengen visa applications, getting a visa appointment can take a long time, in some cases even months. Once the appointment is made, travelers have to wait several weeks to attend it , and then about two or three weeks to get their passports, hopefully with a positive answer," said Bajrami.

These 10 countries are your best chance of getting a Schengen visa for the future

Data from the Schengen Visa Statistics for 2023 show that while some countries are more likely to reject a larger proportion of the visa applications they receive, there are others that tend to reject fewer visas.

Submitting an application to visit one of the latter means that an applicant has a higher chance of getting a visa.

By the numbers, the ten easiest Schengen visas to get for summer 2024 are as follows:

-Iceland with only a rejection rate of 2.2 percent
-Switzerland – 10.7 percent
-Latvia – 11.7 percent
-Italy – 12 percent
-Luxembourg – 12.7 percent
-Lithuania – 12.8 percent
-Slovakia – 12.9 percent
- Germany - 14.3 percent
- Austria - 14.3 percent
- Greece - 14.7 percent/ CNA
