On Iran, Ukraine and other issues/ Details from the Trump-Putin phone call

President Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed Iran, Ukraine and other issues by phone today, the Kremlin said, in their sixth public conversation since Trump returned to the White House.

While discussing the situation around Iran, Putin stressed the need to resolve all issues through political and diplomatic means, said Yuri Ushakov, his foreign affairs adviser.

The United States struck three sites in Iran on June 22, joining Israel's war aimed at destroying Tehran's nuclear program.

Regarding the conflict in Ukraine, Ushakov said that Trump emphasized his desire for a quick cessation of hostilities and Putin expressed Moscow's readiness to pursue talks with Kiev.

At the same time, the Russian leader stressed that Moscow will strive to achieve its goals in Ukraine and eliminate the root causes of the conflict./CNA
