Zelensky: Ukraine is ready for a leaders' meeting aimed at ending the war

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Ukraine is ready for a leaders' meeting aimed at ending the war, when asked about a phone call between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump.

Zelensky said he hopes to speak with Trump tomorrow or in the coming days, focusing on providing military aid from the United States to Ukraine.

Zelensky reiterated his country's desire to join the European Union, facing questions about the opposition of several states, with an apparent reference to Hungary, that are blocking Kiev's European path.

"For our part, we are doing our best in the midst of a war," Zelensky said.

The Ukrainian president acknowledged that the security issue makes it difficult to progress at the pace the Ukrainian government would like. /CNA
