Nor does the municipality of North Mitrovica have any information about the opening date of the bridge in Ibër, although the municipal assembly made the decision to open it months ago.

"Of course, it is not known yet." It's been almost a year since we fulfilled that constitutional, civil obligation for the city and preceded some processes", said Skënder Sadiku, councilor in the North Mitrovica Municipality Assembly.

The bridge over the Ibër River in Mitrovica, in addition to KFOR soldiers, was also patrolled by EULEX members on Saturday, who were seen standing on the northern side, behind the concrete barriers blocking traffic on the bridge.

Meanwhile, on the southern side, preparations for the opening of the bridge have been completed, according to the media in Kosovo.

Inspections of the bridge were completed last week to check its stability and preliminary results published by the Ministry of Infrastructure show that the bridge is functional.

The opening of the bridge has been strongly opposed by QUINT states and the EU. The United States of America announced that there is a risk of a security threat, while Brussels demands that Kosovo discuss the opening of the bridge with Serbia as part of the dialogue./ CNA
