Epiphany Mass/ Pope Leo XIV: When God appears, nothing remains the same

On Tuesday, on the Solemnity of the Epiphany, Pope Leo XIV presided over Holy Mass in St. Peter's Basilica for about 5,800 faithful.

At the beginning of the Mass, the Pope closed the Holy Doors of St. Peter’s Basilica, the last of the Holy Doors opened for the Jubilee Year. This act marked the end of months during which an endless stream of men and women, pilgrims of hope, crossed the threshold of the Basilica, journeying towards what the Pope described as the new Jerusalem.

"The Epiphany shows a God who changes everything and brings hope. He recalled that even today there are people called to seek God and follow the path of hope, accepting the risks of the spiritual journey," the Pope emphasized in his homily.

The Pope underlined that holy places and the Church must communicate life and facilitate the birth of something new. He warned that fear, like Herod's, blinds us, while the joy of the Gospel liberates us and makes us courageous and creative.

In conclusion, the Pope invited the faithful to be "pilgrims of hope" together, led by Mary, towards a humanity transformed by God's love./CNA
