Mega drug operation in Turkey/ Famous actress and 7 other people arrested

Turkish authorities arrested actress Ezgi Eyupoglu and seven others on Friday in a widening drug investigation in Istanbul that has targeted media and entertainment figures for weeks.

Eyupoglu was arrested on suspicion of purchasing drugs for personal use, according to the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.

Two others, identified by the initials EK and IAA, were arrested on suspicion of drug production and trafficking. Four suspects were arrested on suspicion of facilitating prostitution.

The operation is the latest phase in a wide-ranging investigation that has seen dozens of arrests since October.

Singer Aleyna Tilki, actress Irem Sak, social media influencer Danla Bilic and Mümine Senna Y?ld?z were arrested on Thursday and released the same day after giving blood and hair samples to the Forensic Medicine Council. /CNA
