Four young children who survived a plane crash in the Amazon Rainforest in Colombia have been released from hospital and are doing well.
The Colombian authorities announced the news about the children's health, reports CNN.
The four children, ages 1 to 13, have been receiving treatment at the Colombian Military Hospital in Bogota since they were found on June 9.
According to Astrid Garces, director of the Colombian Child Welfare Agency ICBF, the children are now staying in a shelter.
During the 40-day stay in the Amazon rainforest, the children ate three kilograms of farina, coarse cassava flour commonly used by indigenous tribes in the Amazon region, to stay alive, according to a Colombian special forces official.
The children lost their mother in the air accident.
The father of the two youngest children, Manuel Ranoque, and the maternal grandparents have requested their legal guardianship and the court's decision is awaited.
