Over a million Ukrainians on the ground as a result of Russian attacks

Russia carried out massive airstrikes on Ukraine's infrastructure on Thursday, leaving more than 1 million people without power in freezing weather.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy accused Russia of "despicable escalation" after Ukraine's Interior Ministry recorded damage to infrastructure in nine regions.

Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that the latest attack was Moscow's "response" to Ukrainian attacks on Russian territory by American ATACMS medium-range missiles.

Speaking during a visit to Kazakhstan, Putin warned that Russia's future targets could include "decision-making centers" in Kiev.

He added that Russia launched more than 90 missiles and 100 drones in an "all-out attack" on November 28, saying 17 targets were hit. These details are rarely given by the Russian president.

The Ukrainian Air Force said it shot down 79 missiles and 35 drones, while another 62 drones "disappeared." Officials reported that all missiles and drones headed for the capital, Kiev, were destroyed.

The attack forced the national electricity grid operator, Ukrenerho, to immediately announce an emergency power outage, Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko said in the early morning hours of November 28.

"Once again, the energy sector is under a massive hostile attack. Attacks on energy facilities are happening all over Ukraine," Halushchenko wrote on social media.

The electricity supplier, DTEK, announced that there will be power cuts in Kiev, Odesa, Dnipropetrovsk and Donetsk.

It is reported that Kiev also disconnected several units of nuclear power plants during the attack. Ukraine gets more than half of its electricity from nuclear power plants.

The attack happened on a day when temperatures across Ukraine have dropped below zero degrees./REL
