Polac/Kurti Massacre: Serbia tried to hide the crimes and disappear the traces

Prime Minister Albin Kurti, in a post on social networks, recalled the massacre of Polac from Drenas that happened 25 years ago, on April 7, 1999.

Kurti emphasizes that April 7 is the date when the civilian victims and martyrs of Polac from Drenica are remembered. According to the head of the government of Kosovo, the biggest preoccupation of the state of Serbia was the concealment of these crimes and the disappearance of traces, which was mainly aimed at the disappearance of dead bodies.

Full reaction:

April 7 is the date when the civilian victims and martyrs of Polac of Drenica are remembered!

Before the war started in Kosovo, about 450 families with over 4000 inhabitants, all Albanians, lived in the village of Polac in the municipality of Skënderaj.

But during the offensives of the Serbian army and police in the summer of 1998 on the villages of Drenica and especially during the criminal campaigns of the armed forces of Serbia, 86 people were killed in Polac: 78 unarmed civilian victims and 8 martyrs from the Kosovo Liberation Army . Of those killed in Polac, 12 people were from Kerolli neighborhood, 11 from Kabashi neighborhood, 11 from Veliu neighborhood, 11 from Xani neighborhood, 8 from Koci neighborhood, 4 from Aliuka neighborhood, 3 from Hoti neighborhood, as well as from other neighborhoods.

After the murderous campaigns carried out on Kosovo Albanians, the biggest preoccupation of the Serbian state was the concealment of these crimes and the disappearance of traces, which was mainly aimed at the disappearance of dead bodies. Seven residents of Polac are still missing, as the Serbian authorities refuse and refuse to cooperate with international justice. During the war, 20 inhabitants of Polac survived their wounds.

During 1998-1999, the Serbian police and army burned and almost completely destroyed the village of Polac. More than 450 residential houses, reception rooms and outhouses were burned, making it even more difficult to return to the village and rebuild life in Polac after the war.

The society and the state of Kosovo will take care of the legacy of the war of the people of Kosovo. We will not stop demanding justice for the victims, for war crimes and war damages in the direction of the criminals and in the address of their order givers!

25 years later, we remember and honor the civilian martyrs and martyrs of the KLA from Poland. Glory and deep gratitude. /CNA
