Montenegro is hit by a powerful storm, two victims are recorded

Two people lost their lives in the powerful storm that hit Montenegro on Tuesday. Strong winds caused extensive material damage to the port of Tivar and several coastal towns, officials said.

The Montenegrin police office announced that as a result of the storm, a worker was killed in a construction crane in the coastal city of Çanj, while another person was killed by lightning in the Lushtica peninsula.

"The storm that engulfed Montenegro has particularly affected the coastal region where, unfortunately, we also have loss of life. In Çanj, a Turkish citizen lost his life in a construction site, while in Llushtica, a person lost his life from a lightning strike. In Petrovac, one person was rescued from the water and a worker was slightly injured in the port of Tivar", the announcement states.

The heavy rain that fell suddenly in Podgorica and the coastal towns flooded the streets of the city and the main tourist center of Budva, while traffic was difficult due to the large amount of water on the roads.

In the Port of Tivar, which is the largest in Montenegro, cranes and transport bridges collapsed, and one person received minor injuries. In this port, strong winds brought down the roof of the copper concentrate warehouse./ VOA
