Macron: Fighting terrorism does not mean razing Gaza to the ground

The President of France Emmanuel Macron has said that the fight against "terrorism" does not mean "flattening Gaza or attacking the civilian population indiscriminately", writes The Guardian.

Macron, in an interview with broadcaster France 5, said: We cannot allow the idea to take root that an effective fight against terrorism means flattening Gaza or attacking the civilian population indiscriminately.

He asked Israel to "stop this response because it is not appropriate, because all lives are worth the same and we protect them."

While he acknowledged Israel's "right to defend itself and fight terror", the French leader called for the protection of civilians and "a ceasefire that leads to a humanitarian ceasefire"./ CNA
