Over 7,000 Serbian citizens from the four northern municipalities have been provided with Kosovo documents since January of this year, when visa liberalization came into effect. The figure was made public by the director of the Civil Registration Agency, Blerim Camaj, in an interview with the local media.

"Somewhere around 4,000 citizens have been provided with identity cards. Meanwhile, around 3,200 citizens have been provided with passports in the first month", said Camaj.

Meanwhile, in the first six months of this year, according to Camaj, in general, about 270 thousand citizens have applied to be provided with passports and nearly 130 thousand others with identity cards.

"Requests for equipment with documents have been on the rise since January, so this year we have an increase in requests. In the first six months of this year, around 125,143 citizens applied for ID cards. Whereas, to be equipped with passports, 263 thousand 850 citizens have applied somewhere", he added.

In addition to these, Camaj emphasized that in the first months of this year, due to the large flow of citizens for documents, the process was slower, but now things have returned to normal.

Also, he said that from 2011 to 2020, over 18,000 driver's licenses were converted by Serbian citizens./CNA
