British Prime Minister travels to Brussels/First meeting with the EU in a long

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer is traveling to Brussels to join a meeting of European Union leaders.

This is the first time a British prime minister has attended an EU meeting since Brexit.

Starmer is holding these meetings for talks focused on defense and security cooperation and will also meet with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.

The trip is part of what he calls a "reset of relations" between the United Kingdom and the European Union.

Leaders of the 27 member states of the European Union are gathering for what is being described as an "informal meeting" at the Palais d'Egmont in Brussels, a 16th-century palace in the heart of the Belgian capital./ CNA
