Trump to impose trade tariffs on EU, UK, out of line

Donald Trump says the US will definitely impose trade tariffs on the EU, having already announced tariffs on goods from Canada, Mexico and China.

The 25% import tax on goods from Canada and Mexico, and 10% on goods from China, begins Tuesday.

Asked by the BBC if the EU will be next, President Trump says it "definitely will happen"

On tariffs on UK goods, Trump says the UK is "out of line. But I think one thing can be done."

Trump has given a number of reasons for imposing tariffs on countries, including border security, drug imports and trade deficits.

Of the EU, he says: "They don't take our cars, they don't take our agricultural products. They take almost nothing."/ CNA
