Kremlin: Moscow ready to move towards peaceful solution in Ukraine

Russian President Vladimir Putin is ready to move towards a peaceful solution in Ukraine, but Moscow's main goal is to achieve its own goals, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said in a video broadcast on state television today.

Peskov said the international community is now accustomed to US President Donald Trump's rhetoric, but added that Trump has also stressed in comments about Russia that he will continue to seek a peace agreement.

"President Putin has repeatedly spoken about his desire to bring the Ukrainian solution to a peaceful conclusion as soon as possible. It is a long process, it requires effort and it is not easy," Peskov told state television journalist Pavel Zarubin.

On Monday, July 14, Trump announced a tougher stance on Russia, pledging to provide a new wave of military aid to Ukraine, including Patriot air defense missile systems. He also gave Russia 50 days to agree to a ceasefire or face additional sanctions. /CNA
