KFOR and Lista Serbe talk about the latest security developments

The deputy commander of the NATO peacekeeping mission in Kosovo, KFOR, Federico Bernacca, met with a delegation of the Serbian List, with whom he discussed the latest security developments in Kosovo.

According to a press release, the meeting was held at the KFOR headquarters in Prishtina and the Serbian List delegation was headed by the chairman of this party, Zlatan Ellek.

"They [Lista Serbe] share their positions on the latest security developments, including in the north of Kosovo. General Bernacca listened to the concerns expressed by the delegation. He emphasized that KFOR has a visible and flexible presence throughout Kosovo and is well prepared for any important security development", said KFOR's announcement.

The deputy commander of KFOR, according to the announcement, said that this mission is committed to contributing to security and stability for all people living in Kosovo, according to the mandate derived from the United Nations.

"In this regard, KFOR continues to support the dialogue between Pristina and Belgrade that is facilitated by the EU", it was said in the announcement.

This meeting of the delegation of the Serbian List, the largest party of Serbs in Kosovo that enjoys the support of Belgrade, comes a day after the authorities in Kosovo closed five parallel institutions in the north of Kosovo.

The Government of Kosovo declared that parallel Serbian institutions have operated under the leadership of Serbia, "violating the constitutionality and laws of the Republic of Kosovo".

And on August 30, the head of the Serbian List, Zlatan Ellek, said in a press conference that with these actions "it was clearly seen that [the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin] Kurti loves the Serbs in Kosovo. This is another attempt to ethnically cleanse Serbs from Kosovo, first of all from the north."

"With this action today, Kurti showed that he does not like the institutions of the Republic of Serbia, he does not like the Association of municipalities with a Serbian majority, nor the Serbs in Kosovo, especially in the north," he said.

The action carried out by the Kosovo Police has been criticized by the United States, the European Union, France, Germany and the United Kingdom, which have described it as a unilateral and uncoordinated action.

The US Embassy in Pristina said that Kosovo's continued uncoordinated actions reflect the deterioration of the partnership between Washington and Pristina.

KFOR, which is the third security responder in Kosovo, after the Kosovo Police and the EU Rule of Law Mission (EULEX), earlier on Saturday increased its presence on the main bridge in Mitrovica.
