Cocaine and diamonds seized at the port of Durres

Durres Customs has announced that today, during checks carried out at the port of Durres, cocaine and four precious stones suspected to be diamonds were found and seized.

The announcement states that during a physical search of a citizen who was traveling in his vehicle on the Ancona-Durres ferry, precious stones and narcotics were found.

Durrës Customs, in cooperation with State Police structures, blocked today during several checks carried out at the Port of Durrës a quantity of narcotics suspected of being cocaine, four precious stones suspected of being diamonds, as well as an electronic device for detecting precious metals.

During the inspection of a vehicle arriving on the Ancona-Durrës ferry, a suitcase containing the detection device and several mountable accessories was found.

During the physical search of a citizen traveling in another vehicle coming from Italy, four transparent packages containing stones similar to diamonds were found.

In another vehicle, a suspected quantity of narcotics, cocaine, was discovered hidden in clothing placed in the driver's cabin.

The cases were referred to the competent structures for further procedural and investigative actions.
