Kallas: Early meeting of EU foreign ministers on Ukraine on Monday

EU chief diplomat Kaja Kallas said on Sunday that any agreement between the US and Russia must include Ukraine and the EU and called for a meeting of foreign ministers on Monday to discuss next steps.

"The US has the power to force Russia to negotiate seriously. Any agreement between the US and Russia must include Ukraine and the EU, because it is a matter of the security of Ukraine and all of Europe," Kallas said.

The meeting will be held virtually on Monday afternoon and Kallas said the ministers will also review developments in the Middle East and Gaza.

Kallas said that international law is clear that all temporarily occupied territories belong to Ukraine.

Kallas warned that a negotiated solution should not prepare the ground for further aggression against Ukraine, the transatlantic alliance or Europe. /CNA
