Iran confirms it will discuss nuclear issues with three Western countries

Iran will hold talks with France, Germany and Britain on November 29 regarding nuclear and regional issues, confirmed the spokesman of the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Esmaeil Baghaei.

He did not say where the talks will take place, but the Japanese news agency, Kyodo, reported earlier in the day that representatives of the four countries will meet in Geneva, Switzerland.

This announcement was made a few days after the United Nations Agency for Nuclear Affairs approved a resolution against Iran.

According to the Iranian official, "Tehran has always believed that nuclear issues should be resolved through diplomacy" and that "Iran has never abandoned talks."

According to Japanese media reports, the Government of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian is aiming to find a solution to the nuclear blockade before the return of US President-elect Donald Trump to the White House.

In 2018, the then-Trump administration withdrew the United States from the 2015 nuclear deal reached between Iran and world powers.

After leaving the deal, Trump has reinstated tough sanctions against Tehran, prompting the latter to violate the terms of the deal, restart uranium enrichment and install advanced centrifuges to speed up the production of nuclear weapons materials.

Indirect talks between the administration of US President Joe Biden and Tehran to revive the agreement failed./ Rel

Throughout the campaign, Trump has said that "an agreement must be reached, because the consequences are unimaginable"./ Rel
