Ellek: I expect the Serbian List to participate in the elections
The chairman of the Serbian List, Zlatan Ellek

The chairman of Lista Serbe - the largest party of Serbs in Kosovo - Zlatan Ellek, has told Radio Television of Serbia that he expects that his party will participate in the general parliamentary elections of February 9 in Kosovo.

He has said that he expects the Serbian List - which enjoys the support of official Belgrade - to win the 10 seats reserved for minorities in the Assembly of Kosovo.

According to reports in some Serbian media, he is expected to make the official confirmation for participation in the elections on December 11.

The Serbian People's Movement of Millija Bishevac, the Party of Kosovo Serbs of Aleksandar Jabllanovi?, and the Party for Freedom, Justice and Survival of Nenad Rashi? are also expected to compete in the upcoming elections.

This will be the first time that the Serbian List will participate in an election process in Kosovo, since November 2022, when the Serbs resigned from the institutions of Kosovo.

This party did not even participate in the two election processes held in the four municipalities in the north of Kosovo - inhabited by a majority of Serbs - and as a result they are now led by Albanian mayors.

During his appearance on Serbian public television, Ellek claimed that Pristina carries out daily provocations against Serbs in the north of Kosovo, and that it is trying to gain political points before the February elections.

Ellek has expressed concern about, as he said, the silence of the international community on these developments, without mentioning anything very specific.

The Government of Kosovo, on the other hand, claims that it is extending sovereignty to the northern part.

During the year, the Government made a decision to ban the use of the Serbian currency, the dinar, for making cash payments and closed several parallel institutions that function according to the Serbian system./REL
