The New York Post has published the hidden sons of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Photos released for the first time show Putin's two children training to become gymnasts just like their mother.

The photos show Ivan, 10, and Vladimir Jr., 6, at a gymnastics event led by the president's girlfriend, Alina Kabaeva, a former Olympic athlete.

The article notes that Putin fiercely protects his children and isolates them out of fear. The boys and their mother are said to live an ultra-isolated life in a fortified forest compound in Valdai, northwest of Moscow.

The boys also use the nickname Spiridonov as their last name, according to the authors and gym tour records viewed by The Post.

“Information about Kabaeva and her children has been erased from state databases, the boys were given a covert surname, Spiridonov, and the entire territory around the tsarist family’s Valdai residence is strictly guarded,” according to journalists Roman Badanin and Mikhail Rubin.

Spiridonov is the first name of Putin's paternal grandfather, Spiridon Putin, who lived from 1879 to 1965./ CNA
