Apologized to Epstein/The email that "destroyed" the Duchess of York

Seven charities have removed the Duchess of York from her role as a supporter or ambassador after a 2011 email came to light in which she called Jeffrey Epstein "her friend" and apologized to him for her public criticism of him.

Julia's House, a palliative care center for children, was the first to fire Sarah Ferguson, Prince Andrew's ex-wife, saying it was inappropriate for her to continue in the role.

The Cancer Foundation, the Allergy Research Foundation, and several charities also announced that they had removed the Duchess from her leadership role.

The British Heart Foundation said she would no longer be its ambassador.

Prince Andrew, the Duke of York and the Duchess's ex-husband, stepped down as a working member of the royal family and lost his royal patronages following challenges over his association with Epstein, including an interview with BBC Newsnight in 2019./ Adapted from BBC
