Former US Assistant Secretary of State James Rubin, following his testimony at the Special Court in The Hague, was also asked about Hashim Thaçi's relationship with Adem Demaçi.

Rubin said that Thaçi did not indicate what actions he should take or the reason for them.

Further, Rubin said that he implied that Demaçi was very important to Thaçi, from the way the latter spoke about him.

" Thaci didn't tell me what he had to do and why he was doing it. But it was clear that he had superiors somewhere. He was very vague in the language he used. I understood that Demaci was very important because I knew what position Demaci had, who had spoken to Albright. It was known that he was against Rambouillet.

Thaçi spoke in a way that showed extraordinary respect for Demaçi.

We met in Rambouillet with the official delegation of Kosovo Albanians, who were going to sign. Albright instead called Demaç at the end of the talks, thinking it would help the cause.
