Former US Assistant Secretary of State James Rubin, on the second day of his testimony, claimed that after the war he discussed with Hashim Thaçi the allegations of war crimes allegedly committed by members of the KLA against Serbs and other minorities, at a meeting in Kosovo in the late spring of 1999.
Rubin said he had warned Thaçi that they would not have US support if they avenged Serbia's crimes committed in Kosovo.
"Hashim, we went to battle for you, we fought for you, we put our credibility on the line for this, and we would be very, very sorry if you now did to the Serbs what they did to you in such a terrible way," Rubin recalled telling Thaçi.
Rubin said that, for this, Thaçi assured him that he "would do everything within his responsibility to prevent this from happening."
He added that Thaçi informed him that the war crimes accusations are untrue allegations.
