1 person arrested in Kosovo/ Suspected of murdering 25 Albanians in 1999

A citizen was arrested in Kosovo this Monday, on suspicion of war crimes.

By order of the Kosovo Special Prosecution Office, the Kosovo Police, namely investigators from the Directorate for the Investigation of War Crimes, on Monday arrested the person with the initials DN, on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of "War crime against the civilian population".

The suspect, DN, was arrested at the Dheu i Bardhë border crossing, on the border with Serbia.

DN is suspected of having participated in the murder of 25 Albanian civilians in the Municipality of Gjilan during the war in Kosovo, between April 13 and April 30, 1999, in complicity with members of the Serbian police and military forces.

Within the legally prescribed deadline, the Special Prosecution will submit the request for the imposition of a detention order to the Basic Court in Pristina, Special Department. /CNA
