Six dead from the storm in the US

Tornadoes and severe storms hit Tennessee Saturday night, leaving at least six people dead.

Extreme weather in some parts of the southern state of America caused damage to buildings and power outages.

Three people lost their lives in the northern suburbs of the capital of this state, Nashville.

Two adults and a child died in the town of Clarksville, about 80 kilometers to the northwest. Clarksville Mayor Joe Pitts declared a state of emergency, including a curfew beginning at 9 p.m.

"Our hearts ache for the families of those who lost their loved ones. The city stands ready to help them through this difficult time," said Pitts.

Twenty-three other people were injured and are being treated in hospital in this part of the country.
