"We need a two-state solution before it's too late"/ Guterres:

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres says a two-state solution is needed and that sovereignty for the Palestinians is right and that denying it would be a gift to extremists.

“We must recommit to a two-state solution before it is too late. A solution where two independent, contiguous, democratic, viable and sovereign states of Israel and Palestine are mutually recognized and fully integrated into the international community. ”

Guterres stressed that the sovereignty of the Palestinian state should not be seen as a reward, but as a fundamental right.

 

"To be clear, national sovereignty for the Palestinians is a right, not a reward. Denying it would be a gift to extremists around the world, " Guterres said./ CNA
