"We want a permanent end to the war"/ Iran rejects ceasefire proposal

Iran has rejected the latest proposal for a 45-day ceasefire, reportedly put forward by regional mediators, while demanding a permanent end to the war.

"We will not accept just a ceasefire. We only accept an end to the war with guarantees that we will not be attacked again ," Mojtaba Ferdousi Pour, head of the Iranian diplomatic mission in Cairo, told the Associated Press.

According to the official IRNA news agency, Tehran conveyed its response to the Pakistani mediator. Iran's negative response included 10 clauses, which IRNA said included ending regional hostilities, establishing a protocol for safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz, reconstruction and lifting sanctions.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump has warned that if Tehran does not surrender, the US could hit bridges and power plants. /CNA
