Serious incident in northern Germany / Three people die after a tree falls

Three people have tragically died in Germany after a tree fell and crushed them. According to German police, a 21-year-old mother and her 10-month-old baby were among the victims, as well as a 16-year-old girl.

Meanwhile, an 18-year-old woman was rushed to the hospital in serious condition, while other people were injured.

The accident reportedly happened in a wooded area in Satrupholm, outside the northern German city of Flensburg, at around 11:00 local time.

A group of about 50 people had gathered for an Easter egg hunt. Police say the victims were killed when strong winds toppled the tree, which was about 30 meters high.

Germany's DWD weather service had previously issued strong wind warnings for the area, predicting sustained winds between 55 and 65 km/h (34-40 mph) and gusts of up to 80 km/h (50 mph) across the state of Schleswig-Holstein. /CNA
