Trump's Threats to Iran/ Amnesty International Chief: Civilians Are the First to Suffer

Iran has warned of a much more devastating response if the United States and Israel carry out attacks on civilian targets.
The statement was made public by a spokesman for the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, the country's highest military operational structure.
According to the statement, which was broadcast by Iranian state media (IRIB), any repetition of attacks on civilians will lead to an expansion of military operations and a harsher response from Iran.
"If attacks on civilian targets are repeated, the next phases of our offensive and retaliatory operations will be much more destructive and widespread," the response said.
This statement comes at a time of heightened tensions, after the US president has threatened attacks on Iranian infrastructure, including power plants and bridges, if Tehran does not meet a deadline to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
The situation remains tense, while the international community is closely following developments that could affect regional stability and global energy markets./ CNA
