United States President Donald Trump signed a new Executive Order aimed at reinstating and strengthening the death penalty for serious crimes, sharply criticizing the previous administration for lightening the sentences of criminals convicted of extreme violent acts.

Trump ordered the Attorney General to implement the death penalty regardless of other factors, as well as to take all necessary and lawful actions to ensure that states have enough lethal injection drugs.

The president openly accused former President Biden of commuting the sentences of 37 criminals sentenced to death, stressing that this decision was a "mockery of justice."
