"Diary of a Prisoner"/ Former French President Sarkozy to publish book with memories from days in prison

Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy is to publish a book about his final time spent in a Paris prison cell. The book will be titled "Diary of a Prisoner" and could be released on December 10, according to the publisher.

Sarkozy accompanied his release in a post on 'X', writing that in prison the noise is, unfortunately, constant and that the inner life of man becomes stronger in prison. He spent three weeks in detention in the fall.

The former head of state, who governed France from 2007 to 2012, was convicted on September 25 of participating in a criminal organization over the alleged Libyan financing of his 2007 presidential campaign.

Sarkozy was released pending appeal on November 10 and his appeal against the sentence is scheduled to be heard from March 16 to June 3, 2026. /CNA
