Last day in Lebanon/ Pope Leo calls for peace: Armed war brings no benefit

Pope Leo XIV concluded his stay in Lebanon by making several heartfelt appeals to stop the attacks and hostilities.

"We must recognize that armed conflict brings no benefit. While weapons are deadly, negotiations, mediation and dialogue are constructive. Let us all choose peace as a means, and not just as a goal," the Pope said at Beirut airport.

During his stay in Lebanon from November 30 to December 2, the Pope made repeated calls for peace, justice and a joint effort by all Lebanese to build a better future for themselves and their families.

The Pope prayed that international communities spare no effort once again in promoting processes of dialogue and reconciliation, and appealed to those who hold political and social authority here and in all countries marked by war and violence. /CNA
